Job Description

Marching Band Visual Designer

REPORT TO:

Director of Marching Band

POSITION STATEMENT:

The marching band visual caption head is an integral part of the marching band staff. Helps in rehearsal planning show design and in implementing a visual technique in conjunction with the Marching Band Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends all competitions (approximately 4) and home football games as needed by the head director.
  • Attends all rehearsals during the course of the season.
  • Attends band camp. Dates and times TBD by director.
  • Implements marching/music technique in a full ensemble and sectional setting.
  • Teaches and cleans drill responsibilities.
  • Runs rehearsals both visually and musically in sectionals.

SKILLS:

The individual should be a strong leader in music and the marching arts with excellent skills in conducting marching choreography and performance. Must have extensive experience in the marching arts (DCI WGI college marching band etc). Calendar:Late July through December

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years experience teaching instrumental students
  • Ability to stay organized in order to plan events and assist the Crimson Tide Marching Band Director in all aspects of Running the Band
  • Knowledge of marching techniques and pedagogy as well as modern instrumental performance practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Instrumental experience
