About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Lead Environment the Lead Water Management is responsible for leading the development of the Water Management Plan and Water Balance while ensuring alignment with our Operations Regional Water Quality Modelling and Water Governance Framework. This role is also responsible for driving activities related to surface water groundwater and operational water management.

This person can make recommendations and lead change at a large mining operation through long-term strategic direction. Strong influencing interpersonal and communication skills as well as the high levels of innovation motivation integrity and dedication are vital for success.

In this role you will:

    • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
    • Lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop Water Management Plans consistent with business regulatory regional water quality modelling and Water Governance Framework requirements
    • Lead engagement and manage relationships with government agencies Indigenous groups and other local communities of interest
    • Develop a site-based proactive process for water management to deliver efficiencies in mine development water uses operations and regulatory authorizations managing regional and site-specific tools
    • Proactively manage risks for water quantity and quality from project findings and site experience and risks associated with regional water quality modelling and site operations
    • Provide senior level technical editing of permitting applications and regulatory submissions
    • Ensure regulatory commitments relating to Water Management Plans and Water Management Facilities are met and developing plans to achieve these requirements
    • Prepare and submit data and reports to meet regulatory and other commitments present technical information to a variety of audiences
    • Find opportunities for water efficiency through integrating water costs into project development and operations
    • Identify operational water supply needs supply risk and develop feasible mitigation based on defined permitted mine life water needs
    • Collaborate with partners and advise senior management to support responsible water management decision making
    • Develop life of mine plans in alignment with the regional approach in order to design the water infrastructure water supply and control impacts in the receiving environment considering different hydrologic scenarios
    • Manage the monitoring program onsite and ensure having the information to meet the compliance limits onsite

Requirements:

    • Engineering or Science Degree in a related field
    • Minimum seven years demonstrated ability working in industrial setting preferably in mining
    • Experience in project management and delivery
    • Experience in development and implementation of holistic water management programs and risk evaluation of water quality/quantity and aquatic life is an asset
    • Experience supervising or leading a team is an asset
    • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial mining water practices and regulatory compliance is an asset
$120000 - $149000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
