Description of Work

**OFFERING SIGN ON BONUS OF $7500**

To be eligible for a sign-on bonus the candidate must not have worked as a probationary permanent or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act.

Position is a Charge Nurse/Nurse Clinician located at Mountain View Correctional in Spruce Pine which houses medium custody male offenders. Position is responsible for planning development coordination and implementation of quality health care delivery to the offender population with specific responsibilities to the management of chronic disease programs. Responsibilities are accomplished through interaction with management staff physicians midlevel providers mental health staff health departments and off-site health care providers. The Nurse Clinician will develop coordinate and present specialized programs for facility staff to include annual TB Skin Testing annual flu vaccines and Hepatitis vaccine series completion. In-service education will be provided to all facility staff as required. The Charge Nurse will provide Blood Borne Pathogen Training to all newly assigned offender janitors kitchen workers and maintenance workers. The Charge Nurse is expected to work independently with minimal supervision and provide twenty-four hour accountability to the Nurse Supervisor. May be required to vary work schedule to meet normal operational needs.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of nursing experience.

The Department of Adult Correctionis one of the largest state agencies with more than 19000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving the lives and property of its citizens through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration Compliance & Accreditation Comprehensive Health Services Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

TheDivision of Comprehensive Health Servicesis dedicated to providing evidence-based compassionate and constitutionally consistent medical care to all offenders in custody. Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their release. The team of physicians nurses behavioral health services dental services psychiatric services pharmacy services and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent acute routine and chronic health care as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison improving public health and decreasing recidivism.
