Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with occasional weekend work
Location: This position is 100% in person located at 1560 Berger Drive San Jose CA 95112
Travel:Local travel may be required up to 50% of the time transporting Corpsmember crews to different job sites around Santa Clara County
About the San Jose Conservation Corps (SJCCCS):
One of the first urban conservation corps in the country the San Jose Conservation Corps Charter School was founded in 1987 to empower young adults aged 18 to 27 (Corpsmembers) to upskill themselves and advance their career in conservation and green spaces. Today SJCCCS continues to operate its1-year-long paidworkforce development program while also functioning as a WASC-accredited charter high school allowing those who have aged out of the traditional education system to earn their high school diploma.

Department Information:
Zero Waste Silicon Valley is a program SJCCCS that strives to tackle two of Californias most significant challenges at once: systemic barriers to employment for transition-age youth and the annual disposal of 30 million tons of provide technical training in skills like driving a forklift processing E-waste and interpersonal skills such as conflict management communication and effective teamwork. Operational projects include landfill waste diversion public education and outreach and more.
Position Summary:
The Zero Waste Supervisor I plays an important operations role for SJCCCS Zero Waste program. This position is responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work of a crew of Corpsmembers to ensure that our projects and special events work plan goals are executed. The Zero Waste Supervisor also works to develop effective relationships with shareholders in the Zero Waste industry and plays a lead role in engaging and educating members of the public.

Work Environment & Requirements
Position requires sitting standing walking on occasionally uneven and/or slippery surfaces reaching twisting turning climbing kneeling bending stooping squatting crouching grasping reaching overhead and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment plus the ability to speak and to hear. The ability to lift carry push and pull tools equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds is required. The incumbent in this position works both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions including wet hot and cold. In the course of work the incumbent may be exposed to biologic or infectious agents unpleasant odors fumes smoke dust and air contaminants and insects. The nature of the work may also require the incumbent to drive motorized vehicles work near moving equipment vehicles or machinery work on ladders or scaffolding or at heights. The incumbent may be required to use protective clothing equipment or devices and may work near hostile or offensive individuals. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.
Equipment Used: The incumbent of this position will be utilizing various Company vehicles. Vehicles include sedans passenger vans pickup trucks with a trailer or flat bed box trucks and/or forklift with the proper training.

Employment At-Will
The San Jose Conservation Corps Charter School is an At-Will employer. This means that employment with SJCCCS is voluntarily entered into and staff members are free to resign at any time. Similarly SJCCCS may terminate the employment relationship at any time with or without cause or prior notice as it deems appropriate. This at-will employment relationship can be changed only in a written agreement signed by the staff member and the Executive Director of SJCCCS.
**SJCCCS IS A MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION EMPLOYER**
All new hires will be required to provide proof of vaccination absent an approved medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. If a new hire is in the process of being vaccinated their start date may be adjusted to a future date after they have been vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means at it has been at least two weeks since the person has completed the entire recommended initial series of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Minimum Qualifications:
Driving Record and Requirements:This position requires driving one or more company vehicles. After an offer is made the candidate must submit a copy of their DMV drivers record and maintain a record satisfactory to the organizations auto insurance carrier. The incumbent must possess and continue to maintain a valid California Class C drivers license and a clean driving record.

Medical Verification and Screening: State law requires all employees working with youth to provide medical verification of negative tuberculosis test results within the last year. Employees will also be required to undergo a driver medical exam drug screen and submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to starting work.
Background Check and Fingerprinting: If the position is offered and accepted candidates will be required to undergo Live Scan Fingerprinting as well as a background check which includes a state and federal criminal history record check.
