Key Accountabilities:
- Assist in the service troubleshooting repair and overhaul of engines propulsion systems and their electronic systems on marine defense vessels
- Perform all duties in a safe respectful and organized manner adhering to all safety guidelines
- Analyze technical data asses and plan scope of work to ensure deadlines are met
- Plan prepare and request all parts and tools to perform job functions
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Write thorough detailed reports at job completion and maintain detailed records of daily activities
- Maintain mtu engine vessel and equipment logs
- Commission and operate engines and propulsion systems
- Provide instruction assistance and demonstrate maintenance safe operation and shutdown of mtu equipment to customer
- Instrument propulsion systems and record test data
- Inspect parts to assure conformance to specification
- Work with product groups on product design development and quality improvements
- Provide input for updates of service manuals and bulletins
- Provide technical assistance to other service personnel and remain technically current
- Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
- Perform special projects as needed
Basic Requirements:
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
- Two years in a mechanical trade school or Associates Degree in Engineering Science or Mechanical Technology; or two years of field service mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience
- Ability to travel on short notice domestic and international (70-100%)
- Ability to lift push pull weights in the 20-60 lb range
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of the principles of internal combustion engines
- Good knowledge of the operation and troubleshooting of engines instrumentation and electronic engine controls
- Good ability to use mechanical electrical measurement and testing tools for mechanical and electrical systems
- Good ability to operate machine shop equipment used for cleaning testing or fabricating parts and equipment
- Good knowledge of technical language and engineering terminology
- Working knowledge of the physical properties of fuels coolants lubricants and oils
- Maintain proper factory representation customer service and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
- Experience with MTU engines and electronics
- Experience with testing of diesel engine components
- Experience with operating forklift trucks
- Experience with rigging of weights up to 1 ton
- Experience with report and service letter writing
