Job Description
A Quantity Surveyor (QS) in pilot construction projects plays a crucial role in cost estimation budgeting and financial management. Since pilot projects are small-scale tests the QS ensures that resources are efficiently utilized while maintaining cost control quality and compliance with industry standards.
1. Cost Estimation & Feasibility Analysis
Conduct initial cost assessments to determine project viability.
Estimate material labor and equipment costs based on pilot project scope.
Assist in financial planning and cost-benefit analysis for full-scale implementation.
2. Budgeting & Cost Control
Develop a detailed budget ensuring cost efficiency.
Monitor expenses and adjust financial plans based on real-time project data.
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
3. Procurement & Contract Management
Source and negotiate with suppliers and contractors for materials and services.
Prepare and review contracts ensuring compliance with legal and financial terms.
Manage procurement schedules to prevent delays and cost overruns.
4. Risk & Value Management
Identify potential financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Conduct value engineering to optimize costs without compromising functionality.
Evaluate alternative materials and methods to enhance project efficiency.
5. Measurement & Cost Reporting
Conduct on-site measurements to verify work completed against project plans.
Prepare cost reports tracking financial performance against the budget.
Communicate financial insights to project stakeholders for informed decision-making.
6. Compliance & Legal Considerations
Ensure project adherence to contract terms building regulations and industry standards.
Handle claims disputes and variations related to costs and contracts.
Prepare documentation for audits and financial reviews.
7. Final Account & Project Evaluation
Assess final costs and prepare closing financial statements.
Provide insights on project cost efficiency and lessons learned.
Contribute to the financial planning for scaling up the project to full implementation.
