Position Type: Regular

Location: Saint John

Salary Range: $2454.00 to $3458.00 biweekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step up to $3776.00 biweekly based on their level of post-secondary education.

What youll do

Responsibilities

You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Academic Chair of Allied Health as a member of the faculty team you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students colleagues community partners and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas may include but may not be limited to:

The successful candidate will have the knowledge skills and abilities to teach Pharmacy Technician students and will be committed to the education of pharmacy technicians who will fulfill the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) professional competencies for entry to practice and pursue certification by the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC). The candidate will work with students up to entry to practice where new graduates are able to provide patient-focused pharmaceutical care while working alongside pharmacists as a member of the integrated health care team.

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices. They will be responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students colleagues community partners and stakeholders as well as other related duties.

What youll need

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • A Diploma in Pharmacy Technician from a CCAPP accredited program and a minimum of three (3) years of recent practical experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Consideration will be given to those with the NAPRA Bridging program (available up to 2019).
  • A valid active direct client care license issued by the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists; and a minimum of three (3) years of recent practical experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Preferred qualification: Certification and experience in sterile compounding/sterile preparation and experience in non-sterile compounding/non-sterile preparation are assets.
  • Must maintain active direct client care hours in pharmacy practice.
  • A willingness to obtain annual practice hours in a pharmacy setting outside the applicants current field of practice (e.g. hospital or community pharmacy).
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with either hospital and/or community pharmacy practice.
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of immunization and criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.

Asset:

  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response the minimum qualifications may be raised.
