What You Will Be Doing:
This Division Operations Manager serves as the Deputy Director of Programs and Planning (DDPP) and is part of a dynamic team in the Division of Juvenile Justice Directors Office. The DDPP through oversight and work with the program team has responsibility for policy and program development data management and analysis contract and grant administration mental health clinical services statewide training and resource and staff development. The DDPP and program team provide support to facilities probation services mental health clinical services community and tribal partners the Alaska Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee Alaska Youth Courts and federal compliance monitoring sites throughout Alaska. This position serves as the Alaska Commissioner for the Interstate Compact for Juveniles (ICJ).

The DDPP position is critical to the success of the division through program unit oversight. The program unit secure facilities and probation services sections of the division work interconnectedly to ensure efficient and seamless delivery of juvenile justice services through policy development addressing legislative needs quality assurance of our policies and programs and researching potential funding for new and innovative programming.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The Division of Juvenile Justice Directors Office is located on the 7th Floor of the Court Plaza Building (also known as the Spam Can) which has expansive views of beautiful downtown Juneau Mt. Roberts the tram Douglas Island and the Gastineau Channel from almost every office including the DDPP office. This position is also eligible for an executive level parking pass in the state parking garage.
In this pivotal role youll primarily supervise a dedicated team located in Juneau with the flexibility to remotely lead two positions based in Anchorage. Who We Are Looking For:
In addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications below the successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following knowledge skills and abilities:
Three years of professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department and two years of supervisory and/or managerial experience which may be concurrent with the professional experience.
Special Note:
Professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department means experience in one of the professional areas that compose the divisions purpose and function to ensure the applicant has the knowledge of the work of the division to be managed.
For example in an administrative services division qualifying professional experience could be in any one of the professional areas that compose business administration; such as accounting procurement human resources and so on.
In a line division for example the Division of Mining Land & Water in the Department of Natural Resources qualifying experience could be in any one of the professional areas that provide for the use and protection of Alaskas State-owned land and water such as geology hydrology forestry natural resource management and so on.
