Culinary Arts Instructor
POSITION SUMMARY
The culinary arts instructor will provide students with hands-on experience in areas related to the culinary arts field. Instructors are responsible for delivering instruction aligning to state-approved competencies and credentials and ensuring student safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Secondary teaching certificate with a vocational endorsement in CIP 12.0500
Cooking & Related Culinary Arts preferred.
Certification: American Culinary Federation (ADF) certified chef preferred.
Experience: Two or more years (4000 hours) of recent relevant work experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide culinary instruction to assigned students according to the competencies established by the State of Michigan and the Technical Education Center.
- Establish student management practices and a classroom environment that facilitates quality instruction.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with St. Clair TEC staff the catering department and the
- Adherence to Perkins Core Competencies for the 43.0100 CIP Code
- Regularly develop review and revise curriculum based on State National and industry standards and benchmarks.
- Teach and deliver state-approved industry credentials. (ServSafe)
- Maintain minimum professional development and educational requirements.
- Accurately maintain required records.
- Organize and maintain a clean and professional learning environment.
- Work cooperatively as a team member.
- Must be able to differentiate color as to the essential job functions.
- Maintain a current advisory committee that includes local culinary stakeholders.
- Must be able to stoop bend squat pull push twist and have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.

RELATED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Infuse student-centered concepts and principles into the learning environment.
- Manage the learning environment by developing scheduling and delivering relevant activities diagnosing student learning difficulties providing corrective action monitoring and reporting student progress.
- Manage student behaviors by developing implementing and maintaining a classroom management plan.
- Develop maintain and support an active advisory committee.
- Assist students in seeking and retaining employment related to their training.
- Maintain educational laboratory and equipment in such a manner as to continuously offer an effective instructional environment.
- Become an integral part of the Culinary Arts instructional team for planning delivery and evaluation of the
- Work cooperatively with all parents and the staff of local school districts. Maintain good public relations with the community at large.
- Follow procedures and policies as set forth in the staff handbook student handbook and board of education policy manual.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Position Employment Date: 2025-2026 school year - upon board approval pending
background check and drug screening
Length of Contract: 185 Day School
Year Salary: per the IEA Contract
