Your opportunity

Dillons ElectricalDiscipline is looking for an Electrical Engineer-In-Training to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

At Dillon we operate as one team. The successful candidate will be based out of our Hamilton office.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Design and Project management

  • Assist project managers with electrical and multi-disciplinary projects
  • Assist in the preparation of electrical designs including:
    • Design of traffic signals and roadway illumination
    • Preparation of lighting and traffic signal layouts
    • Preparation of wiring diagrams and electrical details
    • Photometric analysis of lighting systems
    • Design of low voltage electrical distribution design for subdivisions
    • Voltage drop calculations
    • Preparation of contract documents and specifications
    • Site visits and contract administration
  • Electrical drafting of ongoing and new projects using CAD software
  • Complete design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
  • Contribute to business development activities including client need research preparation of project proposals and presentations
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request

Learning and Development

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Input to the career development of junior staff including technical direction training recommendations coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to Dillons corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in electrical engineering
  • Registration as an engineer-in-training in the province of Ontario or be eligible within six months
  • One to two years work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset however new graduates will be considered

Experience

  • Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of industry standards specifications and good engineering practices
  • Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports contract document preparation tendering and contract administration
  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Revit software will be considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication organization and interpersonal skills
