Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician to join the Passive Safety department based at UTAC Millbrook. The successful role holder will join the ATD laboratory within Passive Safety department and be responsible for maintaining and certifying a fleet of ATDs to the correct safety standards for conducting passive safety tests.
Responsibilities
- Pretest Instrumentation of the crash test dummies to customer and / or legislative requirements
- Support with the logistics of test ATDs receipt storage scrappage / loading and return by liaising with internal and external customers
- Undertake post-test stripping maintenance calibration and certification of the ATDs in line with the regulatory requirements
- Work to set procedures and work instructions and complete corresponding ATD prep activities to a high standard and to test deadlines
- Support maintenance of existing and development of future certification and calibration capabilities
- Maintain ATD passports on an ongoing basis pre and post-test work
- Capture lessons learnt formally and update procedures and templates as and when required
- Maintain an inventory of spares and support purchase of components and sensors in a timely manner to always have the right level of sensor and spares stock.
- Support internal and external customer scheduling calibration and review meetings as and when required
- Liaise with UTAC Engineers UTAC customers and wider UTAC team as necessary
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and SQCDP framework
- Conduct all the work whilst always adhering to the requirements of OH&S

Qualifications :
Qualifications
- Mechanical/Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience is advantageous
- HNC/HND in Engineering (preferred but not compulsory)
Experience
- Previous electrical instrumentation or calibration technician experience (required)
- Previous experience of having worked in an ATD lab. with crash ATDs and/or other safety impactors (required)
- Experience of using Data Acquisition Systems like DTS Messring etc. and corresponding softwares (required)
- Experience of electrical repairs and diagnostics (highly advantageous)
Skills
- Mechanical fitting skills (advantageous)
- Electrical diagnostics and repair skills (advantageous)
- Mechanical tools and lifting equipment handling skills (advantageous)
- Ability to draft and follow written procedures and work instructions
- IT competent
- Strong verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organisational analytical and problem-solving skills
