Job Description

Customs Operations Professional

Summary:

Manage and execute activities which must be carried out in order to comply with international customs laws such as the embarkment disembarkment entry exit movement deposit or transit of goods across borders and subject to customs control. Expedites shipments from start to finish by development of familiarity with their import programs and products through and understanding of Customs regulations and international transportation. Coordinates file processing with team members and other Company work groups.

Directs and coordinates superior client service delivery and production activities of defined team within our Customs Brokerage operation.

Executes these activities in support of the established Maersk Customs Services policies goals and objectives and in full compliance with regulations.

Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for existing and new customers on Customs duties and responsibilities may be assigned which are client specific to satisfy special customer needs. These responsibilities are achieved by the performance of the following duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take complete responsibility for Egypt import customs brokerage process and superior customer service delivery for defined team within MCS operation.
  • Ensure accurate accounting practices such as client invoicing and job accruals
  • Prepare specialized client reports as needed
  • Get involved in A/R status and collection efforts to ensure optimal cash flow
  • Manage carriers & delivery requirements as outlined
  • Track client specific needs and requirements
  • Measure and monitor results of the overall operation against KPIs established regularly and systematically. Report these results to management and hold their direct subordinates accountable.
  • Ensure that KPIs are met for assigned accounts through management of their team and support team with entry processing as required.
  • Execute duties diligently to comply with Customs Brokers responsibilities.
  • Safeguard compliance with applicable federal state and local laws and regulations adherence to company procedures and policies.
  • Perform other position-related duties as specified by management.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include hiring and termination decisions; driving employee engagement through training employees; planning assigning and directing work; participation in appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving issues and or exceptions and putting corrective action in place when needed.

Who we are looking for:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree (preferably) or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in the industry

Technical Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Strong understanding of the transportation industry
  • Excellent communication skills; can relate to people at all levels of an organization.
  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player with excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful creative and maintain flexibility managing resources effectively and efficiently
  • Strong thought leadership and influencing skills ability to engage multiple business units to develop solutions.
  • Strong and current knowledge of technology platforms MS Office products and ability to quickly adapt to new software.
