Job Description

Job Description: Under the leadership of the Director of Enterprise Applications the Programmer Analyst will play a critical role in developing and supporting the universitys data integration data management data warehouse and reporting and analytics. This position is partly funded by a Title III Strengthening Institutions Program grant and is subject to continued funding from the U.S. Department of Education. The Programmer Analyst will contribute to the Integration Data and Reporting vertical within Enterprise Applications. The role will have responsibility for supporting integrations developing and maintaining data pipelines creating organizing and streamlining data marts and report and dashboard development and maintenance. In collaboration with IT and other departments the Programmer Analyst will help ensure university data meets the FAIR principles of findability accessibility interoperability and reusability. This position is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a deep understanding of University data and data lineage by collaborating with data stewards Institutional Research and the Enterprise Applications team.
  • Work with data stewards (e.g. Registrar Career Services etc.) of Data Warehouse data sources to ensure data transforms reflect business logic.
  • Contribute to decisions regarding data quality data architecture and data organization. Bring a long term sustainability and scalability perspective.
  • Support existing integrations and develop net new integrations within the Universitys integration framework (iPaas solution (Workato) Python framework and DBAmp tool).
  • Develop and monitor data pipelines stored procedures and other integration tools for new and existing data.
  • Create and maintain Microsoft SQL stored procedures functions and agent jobs to transform source data.
  • Build and support PowerBI reports and dashboards.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a scalable PowerBI structure and maintenance plan.
  • Assist in migrating legacy reports into PowerBI.
  • Participate in the cross-department data analytics and data warehouse working groups.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Universitys data dictionary and data mart documentation. Update Confluence and other documentation to maintain institutional knowledge and infrastructure.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited four year college in a related technology field and/or relevant professional experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with SQL or other query languages with moderate levels of complexity.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with SSIS packages Python and/or an iPaas solution.
  • 1-2 years of experience with a data reporting and visualization tool (PowerBI Tableau Looker).
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in a data management capacity.
  • Curiosity and willing to take initiative to understand business data definitions use cases and logic behind ETL.
  • Strong teamwork mentality and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers vendors and the public are required.

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education or related industry.
  • Experience working with Student Information System (PowerCampus Colleague) and/or CRM (Salesforce) data.
  • Experience with PowerBI.
  • Experience with working in an iPaas solution.
  • Experience with SSIS packages.
