Job Description
The Data AI and Genome Sciences (DAGS) department at our company is seeking a highly motivated and skilled data scientist to join our Translational Immunology Analytics team based in San Diego CA. This individual will play a crucial role in analyzing and interpreting complex multi-omics datasets in immune-mediated diseases generated using various high-throughput platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of computational biology statistical methods AI/ML and bioinformatics pipelines with a proven track record of independently developing and applying advanced computational approaches to extract meaningful biological insights from integrated multi-omics data in immunologic diseases. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and drive discoveries in complex immune-mediated diseases to inform novel target identification elucidate mechanisms of target of interests and support indication expansion strategies.
In this exciting role you will:
Develop implement and optimize computational pipelines for the processing and analysis of a wide variety of patient-derived and preclinical multi-omics data to advance our companys Immunology portfolio (e.g. bulk RNAseq single cell RNAseq spatial Tx imaging and HT proteomics).
Apply advanced statistical inference and AI/ML methods for identification and prioritization of novel therapeutic targets and pharmacodynamic biomarkers in immune-mediated diseases.
Design and execute computational studies to elucidate molecular mechanisms of drug action (MoA) disease pathogenesis and therapeutic response leveraging multi-modal data in immunology.
Either develop novel computational tools and algorithms or adopt cutting-edge and scalable computational biology and data science approaches to integrate muti-resolution (bulk single cell spatial) transcriptomic and epigenomic profiling data derived from patient tissues and preclinical models to decode disease biology across immunological diseases.
Identify and establish advanced AI/ML approaches to leverage single-cell multi-omics data to decode cell-type specific molecular networks with the goal of novel target and biomarker discovery in immunological diseases.
Collaborate closely with experimental biologists to understand biological questions design analysis strategies and interpret results in the context of drug discovery and development in immunology.
Effectively communicate complex computational findings to both computational and experimental colleagues through clear visualizations reports and presentations.
Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts presentations and intellectual property filings.
Maintain meticulous documentation of codes pipelines and analyses.
Qualifications:
Education:
Required Experience and Skills:
Deep understanding of complex immunological disorders with knowledge of the latest research and trends in the field.
Demonstrated expertise to decode immune-related disease biology by leveraging advanced AI/ML and/or statistical inference frameworks to analyze multi-modal (transcriptomic epigenomic) and multi-scale (bulk single-cell and/or spatial) patient-derived data.
Strong data visualization skills with experience using relevant software packages (e.g. ggplot2 matplotlib Seurat/Scanpy visualization tools).
Excellent problem-solving critical thinking and analytical skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS Google Cloud Azure) and high-performance computing environments.
Demonstrable strong computational background with extensive experience in programming languages such as Python and R. Proficiency in other languages (e.g. C Java).
Knowledge of specific biological domains relevant to immune-mediated diseases with an emphasis on molecular mechanisms and therapeutic strategies.
Experience in network analysis graph theory and applying systems biology approaches for analyzing biological interactions and pathways.
Experience in developing and deploying robust bioinformatics pipelines.
Familiarity with database management and data warehousing concepts particularly for integrating diverse biological and clinical datasets.
Familiarity with drug-target interaction databases and resources relevant to pharmaceutical research.
Experience with clinical trial data analysis or patient stratification strategies for indication expansion.
Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git).
