About the role:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and adaptable Technical Writer to join our team on a3-month contract to provide coverage during a leave of absence. This role is ideal for someone with experience in technical writing within software engineering or other highly technical environments who can quickly integrate into a collaborative fast-paced team and contribute to the creation and maintenance of high-quality documentation.

Youll work closely with product design and engineering teams to create clear concise and engaging content that supports both internal and external users.

A day in the life:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation aligned to organizational standards.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear user-friendly content.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and validate information.
  • Write and edit content for user guides process documentation and online help systems.
  • Curate manage and update content in Zendesk Confluence and SharePoint.
  • Evaluate and improve existing documentation for clarity accuracy and usability.
  • Support the development of alternative content formats such as diagrams videos and interactive guides.
  • Maintain consistency in tone structure and terminology across all documentation.
  • Ensure documentation supports legal compliance stylistic and accessibility standards.

What you bring to the team:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in technical writing or related field.
  • Strong understanding of software development concepts and user experience principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools (e.g. Confluence Zendesk).
  • Experience with structured authoring and content management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering excellent customer service.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to conduct business in virtual and hybrid environments working with multiple geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Certification from the Society for Technical Communicators is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a health-related field is considered an asset.
  • Bilingual French/English is considered an asset.

Location and travel requirements:

AlayaCare supports a flexible hybrid working model expecting that our employees have a regular in-office presence at their closest office location while offering flexibility for some remote work. Our team encourages in-person collaboration and with this the preferred candidate location for this position would be within the Greater Toronto or MontrealArea.
