Canberra Aged Care Home is part of the Hall & Prior Health & Aged Care Group a leading privately-owned aged care organisation with over 30 homes across Australia. Located on a quiet street in Lyneham Canberra Aged Care Home offers a peaceful environment where residents are supported by a dedicated team delivering 24-hour care including specialist palliative dementia and respite services. About the Role
We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to manage our Canberra Aged Care Home ensuring the facility is fully occupied meeting accreditation standards and cultivating a stable and positive workplace culture for staff. Your advanced clinical and leadership experience will be vital to ensuring we provide safe effective and high-quality care to our aged-care residents.
Your well-honed communication assessment and problem-solving skills are easily demonstrated when managing an aged care facility and leading inter-disciplinary teams implementing Quality Management and Continuous Improvement programs well as providing relationship-centred care that ensures the dignity and respect of all residents.
In this role you will:
- Work closely with staff to oversee the daily clinical operations of the home.
- Lead the development and implementation of procedures to ensure residents clinical and care needs are consistently met.
- Manage the homes roster ensuring adequate staff are available to meet residents clinical care requirements.
- Provide clinical supervision mentorship and support to Registered Nurses and care staff.
- Foster strong communication and build trusting relationships with residents families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Create and support a culture of continuous improvement and maintain a safe high-quality care environment.
What youll bring
- Tertiary qualification (Bachelor or higher) in Nursing with current AHPRA registration.
- Multiple years experience s a Nurse Manager in the aged care sector.
- Demonstrated success in financial and workforce management within a complex healthcare setting.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current influenza vaccination.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Strong leadership team management and clinical supervision skills.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to person-centred relationship-based care that upholds the dignity and respect of all residents.
