The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordination of clerical scheduling duties and phone calls. Also responsible for coordination of registering patients as necessary.
This is a full-time position working M-F from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm out of our Edina location. There is also flexibility to work 4 10-hour shifts from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm.
ogi Obstetrics Gynecology & Infertility is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health) a group of local medical practices owned and led by its physicians on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for accurately scheduling surgeries/procedures notifying patients of any time changes
- Update insurance information as appropriate and ensure updates get on patients chart
- Work in conjunction with Physicians and Manager on block scheduling and utilization
- Work with the Patient Services Representatives team on the flow of the schedule to maintain smooth workflow of the day
- Assist in training new staff in scheduling as necessary
- Communicate equipment availability to team on a weekly basis
- Report occurrences through the centers established occurrence reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events
- Foster the developmental and educational process of self colleagues orientees and students (includes functioning as a preceptor)
- Participate in acceptable continuing education fostering career and skill development including meeting departmental continuing education requirements
- Maintain strong interpersonal relationships professionalism and communication with all physician office schedulers and other coworkers
- Assist in managing controllable costs by the proper non-wasteful use of Surgery Center resources
- Actively participate in Quality projects. Identify issues and assist in collection of data for Quality purposes
- Contribute personally to the team oriented environment by demonstrating cooperative constructive problem-solving interaction with all Surgery Center employees
- Participates in department/team meetings
- Serve as backup for the Patient Services Representative as needed
- Any and all other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent
- Two years experience in related field
- Medical technology knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities while achieving results in a fast-paced environment
