Job Purpose:
Performs a variety of complex and routine clinical laboratory tests to obtain data used for diagnosis and treatment of pediatric patients. Ensures accuracy validity and timely reporting of test results while adhering to quality control standards and regulatory requirements. Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment troubleshoots issues and contributes to a safe efficient and compliant laboratory environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accurately and precisely perform prepare and report laboratory tests for both internal and external laboratory tests

Resolve outstanding specimen issues and ensure appropriate documentation within patient charts

Maintain and trouble shoot all laboratory equipment including analyzers when appropriate

Ensure quality control procedures are in place and followed for result accuracy and reliability

Communicate with internal partners to ensure information is provided in timely and accurate manner

Assists with pediatric patient specimen collection

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent degree with credit hours meeting ASCP registry eligibility standards.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a generalist in an CLIA certified laboratory required; Pediatric Phlebotomy Experience Preferred
License/Certification/Credential:
ASCP Certification is Required
