Job Description

Business Services Training Technician

Base Rate:

$26.23

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New hire experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement up to aten-year maximum

New hire education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Class/Calendar:

B26 12 months

Hours:

Full-time (40 hours per week)

OVERVIEW:

To provide training support and monitoring of the financial and receipting software systems and serve as the district liaison to ensure accurate processing of transactions and compliance with district state and federal rules andregulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree or equivalent required with minimum twoyears accounting or bookkeeping experience; degree in accounting or business management preferred
  • Above average proficiency in typing data entry and 10-key by touch with accuracy; excellent test battery; high math aptitude; skill in performing detailed numerical computations
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with school/district personnel of all levels
  • Minimum two years experience in school bookstore/student store management and/or experience with cash handling accounting and inventory maintenance
  • Computer proficiency to include advanced skill level of basic software applications (Word Excel Access Email WebEx etc); financial software (iVisions) and receipting (InTouch)
  • Ability to learn computer software applications and develop the expertise to instruct school and department personnel
  • Ability to train school and department personnel including secretaries media resource bookstore student store and other assigned personnel
  • Ability to organize prioritize and meet deadlines with an accurate attention to detail while working under pressure and with frequent interruptions and minimum supervision
  • Ability to perform high-volume detailed work with accuracy to assume responsibility to independently make sound fact-based decisions for daily tasks; to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs and to stand for long periods of time

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train and support schools and departments on using the Districts financial purchasing and receipting systems and properly using of district Chart of Accounts code system
  • Write and maintain curriculum course materials instructions training guides and individualized lesson plans for district financial software and receipting systems
  • Serve as a liaison between the schools and business services departments to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the districts financial and receipting systems
  • Promote open communication on accounting and budgeting concerns review and analyze budgets and balances
  • Monitor school bookstore and student store operations and personnel to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness and compliance with MPS policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to reduce the risk of fraud at school bookstores and student stores
  • Be available to respond via phone remote desktop or in person and schedule trainings to school and department personnel regarding operational policies and procedures and software functionality.
  • Assist school bookstores and student stores in a variety of tasks to ensure adequate supply availability inventory and display of merchandise and proper recording of transactions.
  • Regular and on-time attendance required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
