Job Description:

What Youll Do

Responsible for oversight on design and implementation of products assigned to their team. Still needs to think things through but has their drivers license. This means they can take user stories and new features from idea to production unattended. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

Our Discover Network Fraud and Risk technology family consists of autonomous product teams responsible for designing developing multiple products for fraud detection case management tools transaction monitoring portal services and implementing cutting-edge solutions. Looking for a technical engineer responsible for the build and automation of different processes to help our customer succeed.

How Youll Do It

• Analyze design program test and deploy new user stories and features with high quality (security reliability operations) to production. Understands the software development lifecycle and leverages critical thinking skills to properly evaluate features and functionality.
• Guides early-career engineers by providing learning tasks as well as work related tasks directs the work of emerging talent and helps them continue to grow in their technical skillset through mentorship.
• Has an oversight on application system and architecture design decisions and guides team to achieve key results for products assigned to them.
• Remediates issues using engineering principles and creates proactive design solutions for potential failures to ensure high reliability of technical solutions.
• Achieves team commitments (and influence others to do the same) by using informal leadership & highly developed communication skills.
• Contributes to and leads technology communities of practice at Discover in areas of design-thinking tools/technology agile software development security architecture and/or data.
• Creates and enforces IT standards within the system/application infrastructure and compatibility with the architecture of the platform.

Qualifications Youll Need
The Basics

• Bachelors Computer Science Engineering Informatics Information Security Information Technology or related
• 3 Years Information Technology (Software) Engineering or related
• Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale

Bonus Points If You Have

• Building applications using Java Spring SpringBoot cloud/container technologies AWS and OCP Microservices and REST APIs.
• Experience with React Native (or React JS) Redux Java script and Frontend application frameworks.
• Skilled in CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins Nexus Gradle or similar skills.
• Experience as part of an Agile engineering or development team.
• Good understanding of object-oriented principles with an ability to write clean code participating code reviews.
• Understanding of software testing principles test automation and methodologies and use of frameworks such as Junit/Gatling/Cucumber etc.
• Using Database Management Systems including Oracle MariaDB and PostgreSQL.
• Developed cloud native applications deployment in AWS/cloud platforms
• Good knowledge with Agile Scrum methodology.
