About the Role
Are you a detail-oriented estimator with a passion for both residential reconstruction and large commercial loss projects Were looking for a Reconstruction & Commercial Estimator to join our growing team. In this role youll be the bridge between project vision and executiondelivering accurate timely and comprehensive estimates that drive successful outcomes.
What Youll Do
The Reconstruction & Commercial Estimator is responsible for providing professional estimating services for both residential reconstruction and large commercial loss projects. This role involves managing the full estimating processfrom site assessment and scope development to estimate delivery and customer communication. The Estimator ensures all estimates are accurate compliant with insurance and company standards and aligned with project budgets. Strong collaboration time management and communication skills are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
General Estimating Duties
Analyze labor material and time requirements for each project.
Create accurate sketches and scopes of work using Xactimate.
Deliver complete well-defined estimates that meet company insurance and client requirements.
Identify project constraints upgrades and exclusions.
Work with external resources (e.g. engineers inspectors) to ensure estimate accuracy.
Submit comprehensive project proposal packets.
Commercial Large Loss Focus
Conduct site visits and review project documentation.
Provide detailed line-item scopes for complex commercial projects.
Divide large projects into manageable sections and document all tasks per section.
Review and apply requirements from National Account bulletins insurance companies and local agreements.
Communicate with restoration contractors and clients to clarify scope and expectations.
Send bid requests for subcontracted work as needed.
Reconstruction Focus
Establish and maintain customer relationships.
Educate customers on reconstruction and insurance processes.
Collaborate with customers to understand desired changes and associated costs.
Communicate estimate details and customer needs to the Production Department.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in business Structural Engineering or equivalent work-related experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in claims management and/or estimating.
Proficiency in Xactimate; SERVPRO T&M experience is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Detail-oriented with knowledge of California building codes and project documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
Valid drivers license and ability to travel extensively.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Frequent walking standing driving and sitting.
Occasional ladder climbing and exposure to extreme conditions (e.g. heat noise).
Must be able to work in varied job site environments.
Working Hours and Travel
Full-time position MondayFriday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (minimum 40 hours/week). Frequent long hours on-call availability and weekend/holiday work may be required. Travel is primarily local with occasional out-of-area and overnight travel.
