MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) other applicable regulatory requirements and professional standards.
Identify coordinate and manage field site placements for ITCC Indianapolis Early Childhood Education students across credential pathways.
Establish and maintain partnerships with licensed early learning providers and community-based programs.
Ensure placement sites reflect developmentally appropriate practices aligned with NAEYC standards and state licensing requirements.
Develop mentor guidelines/practices.
Facilitate onboarding and training for supervising/cooperating teachers/mentors at partner sites.
Communicate with students regarding placement expectations timelines and required documentation.
Track and document student placement assignments and site visits using Microsoft Excel and other appropriate systems.
Support students with resolving field-related issues and navigating placement challenges.
Assist faculty in monitoring fieldwork performance and integrating placement feedback into course learning outcomes.
Organize and deliver field site orientation sessions and mentoring support resources.
Update and share supervising teacher handbooks/guides with the mentor teacher.
Support program data collection and reporting needs for accreditation and grant compliance.
Maintain accurate records of student progress hours and placement evaluations.
Promote equitable access to field experiences for all students addressing barriers as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Early Childhood Education Program Chair and Faculty to align program goals and outcomes including necessary documentation for grant outcomes and NAEYC accreditation.
Stay current with trends and best practices in early childhood education to ensure program excellence.
Maintain compliance with state federal and accreditation standards for early childhood education programs.
Attend relevant department and campus meetings.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
This position involves working with community partners establishing new partners working directly with cooperative/supervising teachers at field placement sites and working with students. Local travel to field placement sites will be required. A portion of work can be remote. This is a grant funded part-time for the 12-month academic year and will potentially end December 2027.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Masters degree in early childhood education Child Development or closely related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in early childhood education including teaching mentoring/coaching and teamwork.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with educational institutions and community partners.
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with learning management systems and other educational technologies.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel for data tracking reporting and documentation.
Preferred:
Mentoring/coaching experience. Experience with organizing or facilitating professional development for early childhood educators.
Familiarity with NAEYC Higher Education Accreditation Standards and Competencies.
