The Culinary Receiver is responsible for the accurate and efficient receiving inspection and storage of all food and culinary-related deliveries. This role ensures that all products meet quality and safety standards match purchase orders and are properly stored to maintain freshness and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Receive all incoming food and kitchen deliveries including dry goods produce dairy meat seafood and frozen items.
Inspect deliveries for quality quantity temperature and expiration dates.
Verify items received match invoices packing slips and purchase orders.
Report discrepancies shortages or damaged goods to purchasing or management immediately.
Reject deliveries that do not meet quality or safety standards.
Properly label and date all incoming items according to FIFO (First In First Out) procedures.
Store food items in designated storage areas (coolers freezers dry storage) at correct temperatures.
Ensure all storage areas are clean organized and compliant with health codes.
Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation.
Maintain accurate receiving logs and documentation.
Communicate effectively with chefs purchasing staff and vendors.
Coordinate with kitchen team to ensure timely availability of ingredients.
Follow all food safety standards and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) protocols.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of receiving and storage areas.
Assist with pest control measures and report any sanitation issues.
Wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and follow safety guidelines.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a culinary or receiving position (preferred).
Knowledge of food safety storage and sanitation practices.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to lift and move heavy boxes (up to 50 lbs).
Basic computer skills for inventory and logging.
Ability to work early morning or flexible hours as needed.
Work is performed in receiving docks cold storage kitchens and loading areas.
May require working in refrigerated/freezer environments.
Fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Food Handlers Certificate or ServSafe Certification.
Forklift or pallet jack certification (if applicable).
