Are you looking for a dynamic work environment where you can grow and make an impact The Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Capital Projects division is seeking a dedicated professional and skilled Architectural Project Manager. The Architectural Project Manager manages the design and construction process for capital improvement and renovation projects of moderate to large complexity scope and size; represents the interests of the end user throughout the planning design and construction process with emphasis on customer service.This is professional architectural work with responsibility for the design and/or plan review and project management of a wide range of the largest and most complex capital improvement renovation or new construction projects. The primary emphasis of this role is in the programming and design phase of a project although duties and responsibilities may also include construction management and contract administration.

Qualified candidates must have or be able to:
Thorough knowledge of the principles practices and theories of architecture and design.
Thorough knowledge of materials construction techniques codes and standards soils project management and of the laws and ordinances pertaining to the design construction and renovation of buildings and other facilities.
Ability to architecturally design and/or review the designs of outside consultants and to read and interpret all associated plans codes and specifications.
Ability to conceive design solutions to estimate costs schedule and coordinate projects and to technically direct others and review and evaluate their work.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Division Description:
The Capital Projects Unit was established for the purpose of coordinating the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Capital Improvements Program which includes all capital improvements regardless of funding source. It is the responsibility of the Capital Projects Unit to assure the departments compliance with all procedures and requirements set forth by the Department of Administration State Construction Office the Department of Insurance the State Budget Office and general statutes relating to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Capital Improvements Program and construction projects. The Capital Projects Unit is headed by the Capital Projects Director and is under the direct supervision of the Chief Deputy Secretary of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
