Job Description
Notre Dame of Maryland University seeks a Dean of the School of Arts Sciences and Business (SASB) committed to dynamic innovative leadership in a student-centered environment guided by our mission:

The Dean of the School of Arts Sciences and Business has executive oversight of a rich program mix encompassing 14 departments undergraduate and graduate programs in the liberal arts more explicitly pre-professional programs including business and art therapy and degree programs for non-traditionally aged learners. Reporting to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs the Dean of the School of Arts Sciences and Business serves in a 12-month position with responsibility for faculty staff student matters budgets curricula and programmatic as well as strategic planning.

- Champion student success across the curriculum and throughout the University
- Foster faculty excellence in teaching scholarship and service

- Think creatively and critically to solve problems and lead innovation
- Build partnerships through effective communication and action
- Inform decision making through thoughtful data analysis
- Evidence a successful record of programmatic assessment and accreditation
- Prioritize projects to meet goals and timelines appropriately
- Advocate for diversity equity inclusion and belonging in all aspects of the work
- Demonstrate scholarship in the field
- Bring previous experience in these areas to the position
All candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in a liberal arts discipline
- A strong record of teaching scholarship and institutional service in higher education consistent with appointment as a tenured professor
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in arts and sciences in higher education
- Experience with online learning programs
- Experience with successful assessment and accreditation
- Strong written oral and interpersonal communication skills.
About Notre Dame of Maryland University
Founded in 1895 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame Notre Dame was the first Catholic college in America to award bachelors degrees to women. For almost 130 years Notre Dame has forged an innovative path forward: launching a weekend college for working nontraditional aged learners in the 1970s an on-campus preschool new nursing programs to meet healthcare needs in Baltimore and beyond a PhD in Education in 2004 a School of Pharmacy in 2009 and programs in Occupational Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies in the last 4 years. In 2011 the College of Notre Dame of Maryland became Notre Dame of Maryland University. Through much of that more than 125 year history the undergraduate college for women was at the heart of the institution. In another bold move forward in 2023 the University began to admit those who identified as male to that program and saw record enrollment. Today the University is proud to enroll more than 1800 students in its four schools: Arts & Science & Business Education Nursing and Pharmacy & Health Professions. Pending United States Department of Education approval in fall 2025 Maryland University of Integrative Health will merge into NDMU creating our fifth academic school and making NDMU the only comprehensive university in the country to house both traditional and integrative approaches to healthcare education.
The University occupies a historic wooded campus on more than 50 acres in north Baltimore.
