Job Description

Supports To Empower People (STEP) is hiring a Psychiatrist to provide community and residential services for adult men with intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral/mental health concerns. STEP provides empowering assistance in therapeutically receptive environments which allows participants to embark upon the clinical challenges encountered and to safely explore and pursue their dreams.
What Youll Do:
  • Report directly to the Program Director and Site Director for administrative tasks and for clinical supervision to the supervising Medical Director of the agency.
  • Meet regularly with Program Directors and Site Directors to discuss clinical functions.
  • Support staff of assigned programs with medical documentation as needed.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff as requested that is consistent with program and agency philosophy and mission
  • Support compliance with regulations and standards established by the licensing/funding agencies including ensuring that all required licenses and certificates are obtained to operate the program.
  • Maintain strong relationships with PCPs families and community partners; attend meetings as required.
  • Serve on JRI committees and teams as requested.
  • Participates in individual and group supervision and meets regularly for agency supervision.
  • Communicate with treatment team and collateral contacts such as PCP community agencies and families as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the medical director in the coordination and provision of psychopharmacological treatment.
  • Provides direct care counseling and teaching to the person served and their families according to established collaboration protocols and standards of care.
  • Provide psychopharmacological consultation assessment evaluation and treatment for assigned caseload providing a range of psychosocial care.
  • Prescribe all necessary medications and treatments according to established practice guidelines and outcomes of care and makes necessary revisions in care plan.
  • Assess and monitor the person served for safety and efficacy with medication management.
  • Order interpret and evaluate appropriate lab and diagnostic tests to assess their clinical health care needs. Based on the outcomes of diagnostic lab and physical assessment findings arranged for appropriate plan of care and follow up.
  • Provide quality mental health care that is person centered and goal oriented with a focus on improving the persons functional level using shared decision making.

Requirements:
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Board Certified Psychiatrist.
  • Rhode Island Board Certified Psychiatrist.
  • Experience with individuals who have Intellectual/development disabilities required.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license a travel between locations is required.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.
