Position: POINT OF SALE PREPARED FOODS SPECIALIST

Requires open availability including evenings and weekends.

Status: Reports to Director of Food Services

Pay Level: III non-exempt.

Purpose: To support the Prepared Foods Department by ensuring accurate and up-to-date data is in our Point of Sale database. This includes entering invoices recipes and yields into recipe costing software ensuring costs from suppliers are kept up to date through invoice monitoring and catalog uploads building and maintaining item data in our Point of Sale system periodic auditing reporting on cost changes and support for monthly/quarterly inventory.

Desired Qualities: Our Point of Sale Specialists are systems mavens. They are organized and thrive on a routine while being able to cheerfully turn on a dime in the ever-evolving world of grocery retail. They are both familiar and proficient with computers in general and MS Office and Google applications specifically.

Responsibilities

  • Enter invoices into Recipe costing software. Notify Management of cost changes that impact profitability in our recipes.
  • Enter recipes into costing software including ingredients method packaging and yields.
  • Follow guidelines for naming ingredients recipes and packaging for data consistency.
  • Maintain monitor and update price and cost data and audit for accuracy for Prepared Foods both the Point of Sale system and the scales including supplier information shelf life ingredients and allergens.
  • Enter new products into the Point of Sale database following the systems naming and data fields. Provide cost information to Managers and enter the retail set by Managers. Maintain internal PLU list.
  • Inactivate discontinued products.
  • Monitor and implement promotional pricing worksheets.
  • Execute and audit sales worksheets for both on-sale and off-sale items.
  • Partner with Point of Sale Specialists to ensure our goal of achieving a zero-error scan file.
  • Generate reports queries and prepare data as requested by Category Management and Department Managers to maintain accurate data and pricing that achieves profit targets.
  • Keep up to date on packaging costs and ensure packaging is included within item costs in the Point of Sale database.
  • Partner with Category to onboard new suppliers brought on by Prepared Foods Department Managers into the Point of Sale database.
  • Participate in monthly/quarterly inventories for Prepared Foods Departments including preparing spreadsheets with up-to-date cost and product information and assisting with data entry.
  • Partner with E-Commerce to maintain image files for Web cart items.
  • Support Category Team data maintenance including time-sensitive issues such as deliverables to marketing vendor catalog uploads and creation of sales batches.

ALL STAFF DUTIES

  • Attend and participate in department and storewide meetings.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Director of Food Services.

Qualifications

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL

  • One (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week and adjust the schedule as needed to accommodate meetings events or special promotions.
  • Computer literacy specifically Microsoft and Google Suites; ability to adapt to new computer and electronic software hardware and devices.
  • Experience with cooking and reading recipes.
  • High confidentiality regarding pricing strategy cost data and vendors.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Flexible - willingness to be open to learn and to take on new responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate objectivity neutrality and calm.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to understand and use calculations needed to achieve margin goals and costs.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping pushing pulling and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to use office equipment: computer Point of Sale scanner fax copier.
  • Ability to work in cold wet conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Natural and local foods (retail wholesale).
  • The ability to speak Spanish French or Swahili is a plus.
