What can you expect
Preferred by Nature is looking for a Sustainability Specialist to support regenerative agriculture and landscape sustainability projects in Hungary. This role plays a critical part in implementing sustainable land management practices supporting farmers and helping build a robust Monitoring Reporting and Verification (MRV) system to track environmental outcomes.
You will work closely with local and international partners technical experts and farmers to help deliver impactful on-the-ground interventions that promote regenerative agriculture and landscape-level sustainability.
Working with us is never routine so the first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.
- Coordinate and implement impactful projects that promote regenerative agriculture and landscape sustainability across Hungary.
- Engage directly with farmers processors and partners to understand their needs provide technical support and help them adopt better land management practices.
- Spend time in the field visiting farms and landscapes to assess practices support implementation and help resolve challenges.
- Shape the way we monitor and verify sustainability impacts by supporting the development of MRV systems and ensuring accurate and transparent data reporting.
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders from local communities to international partners aligning project activities with funding goals and sustainability outcomes.
- Continuously learn and contribute attending trainings and workshops sharing best practices and helping build the future of regenerative agriculture in Hungary and beyond.
Your first year with us:
Within three months you will:
- Develop a solid understanding of Preferred by Natures mission regenerative agriculture approach and current projects in Hungary while actively participating in technical trainings and workshops.
- Establish strong working relationships with farmers funders and project partners to align on goals and collaboration approaches.
- Conduct initial field visits to assess land management practices and support the development of tailored farm action plans in line with funding and sustainability objectives.
Within six months you will:
- Take ownership of project implementation overseeing field activities and ensuring alignment with regenerative agriculture practices and project goals.
- Provide hands-on technical support to farms and processors guiding them in executing action plans and tracking key performance indicators.
- Strengthen collaboration with MRV providers and engage public and private partners to support data collection verification and expand the projects impact.
Within twelve months you will:
- Lead and coordinate project activities in Hungary ensuring effective implementation and timely reporting.
- Refine and apply MRV strategies in collaboration with partners to improve data quality and project transparency.
- Represent Preferred by Nature in industry forums and support the development of strategies to scale regenerative agriculture efforts nationally.
Important that you Have:
- A Bachelor or Masters degree in agronomy agricultural economics rural sociology or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in project management sustainability or agriculture programs.
- Experience with sustainability management regenerative agriculture and international projects.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills comfortable working with multi-stakeholder groups.
- High level of detail orientation organization and time management.
- Fluent in Hungarian and working proficiency in English.
- Knowledge of ESG frameworks and MRV methodologies is an advantage.
