Job Description

Permanent Radiology/Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: College Station TX 77845
Shift: 12 HR Days 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 12 per week
Compensation: Based on experience

Essential Functions:

Quality Assurance

  • Perform high-quality nuclear medicine PET and theranostic imaging procedures per exam protocol
  • Evaluate image quality and ensure adherence to standards
  • Perform quality control on equipment per manufacturer RAM or ACR guidelines
  • Collaborate with engineers and physicists to maintain equipment functionality

Caring Practices

  • Communicate with patients to identify service needs and build rapport
  • Explain exams and procedures following HIPAA guidelines
  • Assess patients ability to tolerate the exam

Patient Safety

  • Clearly explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety
  • Follow infection-control practices aseptic techniques and patient positioning standards
  • Maintain required hand hygiene
  • Use proper sterile techniques during invasive procedures

Radiation Safety

  • Follow all radiation safety protocols to protect patients colleagues and self
  • Verify the correct radiopharmaceutical for each exam or treatment
  • Screen patients for pregnancy status
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications safely
  • Provide patient education about radiation safety
  • Follow correct disposal guidelines for radioactive materials

Collaboration

  • Report operational or patient issues to leadership or the appropriate department
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering supplies/radiopharmaceuticals
  • Work closely with colleagues nursing staff medical providers and Radiologists
  • Ensure accurate transfer of images to PACS for physician review and reporting

  • Monitor and report changes in patients medical condition
  • Provide first aid and respond to emergencies
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills to care for patients of all age groups (newborn through geriatric)
  • Deliver services accurately timely and cost-efficiently
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Maintain composure under stress and resolve issues professionally
  • Support customer satisfaction through courteous service and reduced wait times
  • Contribute to training of new team members and students
  • Adhere to all policies procedures and workflows including PACS EMR and information security
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology

Certification/License/Registration:

  • ARRT-N (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-Nuclear Medicine) or
  • CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) through NMTCB
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
  • MRT (Medical Radiologic Technologist) license

Skills:

  • General computer proficiency including Microsoft Office PACS EMR image exchange systems
  • Strong communication patient education and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function autonomously and deliver high-quality patient care
