Job Description
cutting master in the garment industry is responsible for accurately cutting fabric according to design patterns and specifications ensuring minimal fabric waste and maintaining garment quality and fit. This role often includes pattern making supervision of other cutters and providing technical guidance on garment construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabric Cutting: Precisely cutting fabric based on patterns designs and measurements.
Pattern Preparation: Creating and adjusting paper or digital patterns for different sizes.
Quality Control: Inspecting cut pieces for defects proper grain direction and consistency in sizing.
Supervision: May supervise other cutters tailors and production staff.
Technical Expertise: Offering guidance on garment construction cutting techniques and fabric handling.
Fabric Utilization: Minimizing waste and maximizing material usage.
Pattern Adjustments: Modifying patterns based on feedback or custom orders.
Essential Skills:
Expert Cutting Skills: Proficiency in using various cutting tools and techniques.
Pattern Interpretation: Ability to understand and translate patterns into accurate fabric cuts.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of garment construction fabric types and production processes.
