An idea of what youll be doing:

To lead by example and support the Civils Team in their daily operations and in the development of the team and support the Civils Supervisor in any tasks reasonably requested. To oversee and be accountable for all works carried out on and off-site across all platforms including but not exhaustive to electricity networks petrol forecourts residential and commercial areas are in a safe and professional manner whilst in accordance with all associated RAMS.

Youll have a proven track record of:
  • Recognise danger suspend any work activities until safe and liaise with the appropriate person(s) to create a safe workplace
  • Carry out and accurately record formal risk assessments of the workplace and brief staff appropriately
  • Be authorised for entry into substations for installation and standby duties
  • Carry out the excavation and reinstatement of cable trenches and joint bays using handheld tools and mechanical excavators (once trained and qualified to do so)
  • Install high and low voltage mains and service cables
  • Carry out works within the public adopted highway
  • Review and understand work instructions prior to any work commencement either through plans drawings and written or verbal communication
  • Load and unload equipment from vehicles safely and securely
  • Support the Civils teams with general labour and site maintenance activities
  • Coach and support the development of the Civils teams

Youll be a successful Civils Team Leader if you have:

  • Proficient in the use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office Microsoft Teams SharePoint etc. across multiple platforms such as smart phones tablets laptops etc.
  • Excellent communication including ability to adapt communication styles and outstanding listening skills with ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to use own initiative as well as work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Able to carry out regular physical exertion which may be repetitive at times
  • Good knowledge of hydraulically operated plant and equipment
  • Understanding of signing lighting and guarding NRSWA
  • Strong knowledge of IMS awareness
  • Understanding of Asbestos awareness and legionella


Experience and Qualifications:

Overseas equivalents are also accepted. Practical application will be considered in line with any qualifications obtained

  • Full UK driving license (Maximum of 3 points)
  • CSCS Card (affiliated)
  • 360 Excavator (CPCS card)
  • NRSWA (Operative)
  • Forward tipping dumper licence
  • SPA Safety Passport
  • BE Licence (trailer)
  • Winch Operation licence
  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • ALLMI Lorry Loader
  • Experience working within an electrical industry
  • Experience in managing or upskilling colleagues
  • Experience in carrying our works through understanding of designs

When you join you will go through our top-notch induction and onboarding process and have opportunities to develop further through our in house training academy. You'll have a proven track record of: Assessing potentially hazardous and dangerous situations, taking appropriate action to ensure the safety of personnel, other site operatives and the public. Undertaking site specific risk assessments and creating RAMS, and competent in issuing and cancelling safety documents. Ensuring personnel and your wider team understand duties under safety documents. Carrying out network operations under instruction from the Network Control Engineer. Understanding the local network anomalies and ensuring correct phase rotation. You'll already have experience & qualifications in: Currently hold (or have held) authorisations up to 33kV including permit to work (accepting 11KV with extensive experience). CSCS (affiliated). The use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint etc. across multiple platforms such as smart phones, tablets, laptops etc. Full UK driving license (Maximum of 3 points).
