Department Summary
The mission of the University of Denver Health & Counseling Center (HCC) is to provide exceptional inclusive integrated health care. We promote student success and wellness through education advocacy and outreach to the University of Denver community. The HCC is an on-campus facility that provides a wide range of on-site medical and mental health services. Physicians nurses psychologists health educators and other professional staff the HCC. All students enrolled for academic credit (full- time or part-time undergraduate or graduate) may use HCC services.
The mission of Health Promotion is to cultivate a thriving DU community through education engagement and sociocultural change. Health Promotion provides education and programming to the campus community on topics of well-being mental health healthy masculinities alcohol and other drugs sexual health and interpersonal violence prevention. The Peer Education Program Assistant holds a part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) appointment within the HCCs Department of Health Promotion. In collaboration with their supervisor the Program Assistant supervises and coordinates the Thrive Peer Education program and is responsible for recruiting training and supervisingundergraduate peer educators. The program assistant is also responsible for assisting with various health promotion activities including outreach and campus-wide events.
This position requires strong leadership program development skills and communication skills as well as the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. The program assistant will collaborate with other members of the Health Promotion team and may also collaborate with members of other HCC and campus departments. This position reports to the Coordinator of Health Promotion for Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and Peer Education.
This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year.

Supervision & Training
The Peer Education Program Assistant will receive extensive and ongoing training on multiple facets of Health education programming and administrative processes through an on-boarding orientation prior to the start of the academic year and regular staff meetings. The Peer Education Program Assistant will receive a regular 1:1 meeting to focus on professional development and discuss career goals. The Peer Education Program Assistant is paired with the Coordinator of Health Promotion for Alcohol and Other Drugs and Peer Educations who acts as a supervisor and mentor on work projects and personal professional development.

Work Schedule
This position requires 20-24 hours per week for fall winter and spring quarters with flexibility in scheduling. Some evening/weekend hours required.

Hourly Range
The hourly range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00 depending on experience.
This position is eligible for a federal work-study which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office. This position is also open to non-work study funded students and external applicants. The Program Assistant will be paid with the opportunity for yearly increases dependent on performance.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
