Injury Prevention:
- Develop and implement injury prevention programs including stretching strengthening and conditioning exercises.
- Educate athletes coaches and parents on injury prevention strategies.
- Ensure a safe playing environment by monitoring field conditions and equipment.
Injury Evaluation and Treatment:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of athletic injuries.
- Provide immediate care for acute injuries including first aid and emergency management.
- Develop and implement rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.
- Utilize therapeutic modalities such as ice heat electrical stimulation and ultrasound as appropriate.
Rehabilitation:
- Design and implement individualized rehabilitation programs to return athletes to full participation.
- Monitor athlete progress and adjust rehabilitation programs as needed.
- Communicate with coaches and parents regarding athlete status and return-to-play timelines.
- Coordinate with Physical Therapists
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Coordinate physician referrals and follow-up care.
- Inventory and maintain athletic training supplies and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with coaches athletes parents and school administration.
- Work within the scope of practice as defined by the state of Virginia
- Attend practices and home games as determined by the athletic director within the 20-hour-per-week scope.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
- Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Strong knowledge of athletic injuries and rehabilitation techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with athletes coaches and parents.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings.
- Experience working with middle and high school athletes preferred.
