Job Description Summary
This UG student research assistant position is funded by NIH and is a specialized position for 1-year. UG students from Engineering and Data Sciences interested in working with Stroke patients and having background in Data sciences/ Machine Learning or engineering are encouraged to apply. Under-Graduate Assistant will work primarily at Rinker Campus (Chapman University) for upto 19 hours per week with Dr. Rahul Soangra affiliated with Fowler school of Engineering and Department of Physical Therapy. The UGA student will be funded by a NIH funded project and will be expected to develop machine learning models and embed models in smartphones. UGA is expected to develop models for App and collect data from Stroke patients using smartphone sensors. New ML models will be investigated for modeling stroke ADL . The UGA student is highly encouraged to use data collected and research work conducted from this project into Masters thesis.
Responsibilities
Searching for and reviewing published literature on a research topic Helping to develop a project methodology Assisting with lab work Taking notes Attending team or project meetings Assisting in developing resources for project management Collecting data Entering and analyzing data Supervising research assistants or other personnel on research-related tasks Assisting with manuscript or grant development Preparing reports or presentations Developing codes and ML models Maintaining Database Collecting pilot data for potential new projects
Required Qualifications
Experience in Machine Learning with expertise in Python and MATLAB Passionate in helping Stroke Survivors Demonstrated ability to work independently Proficient in verbal and written communication Highly interested in Biomedical research Must be eligible to work up to 13 hours/week Motivated student looking for a clinical research career
