The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is seeking a highly motivated and skilled communications professional to serve as the Deputy Director of Outreach and Engagement. This position will support the Outreach and Engagement Director in managing the agencys media relations social media presence content creation event planning and public outreach efforts. The ideal candidate will help develop and implement strategic communication campaigns that highlight and promote CPRAs programs services and coastal restoration initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven years of experience in public relations journalism marketing content creation social media management or graphic design; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus four years of experience in public relations journalism marketing content creation social media management or graphic design; OR
A bachelors degree plus four years of experience in public relations journalism marketing content creation social media management or graphic design; OR
An advanced degree in public relations marketing communications journalism or English plus three years of experience in public relations journalism marketing content creation social media management or graphic design.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Support the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies across earned media digital platforms and internal communications.
- Draft press releases op-eds media statements talking points and other written materials.
- Coordinate press events media interviews briefings and community engagement activities.
- Manage media outreach and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Ensure timely and accurate responses to media inquiries and public information requests.
- Collaborate with digital and social media teams to ensure message consistency across all platforms.
- Prepare organizational leadership for media interviews and public speaking engagements.
- Monitor media coverage and provide regular analysis and reporting.
- Direct or mentor junior communications staff as needed.
- Oversee website content social media platforms and digital outreach tools.
- Serves as acting Director in the absence of the Director - meeting with senior leadership managing staff and handling any other pressing issues.
Preferred Qualification and Skills:
- Proficiency in graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop InDesign Illustrator Premiere Pro etc.) and other design tools.
- Experience in social media marketing and digital communications.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Compensation: The maximum salary for the Public Information Director 1 $103293 annually.
