Job Description

I. Job Summary
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Supervisor has direct supervisory responsibility for the volunteers in the Retired Senior programs including recruitment orientation and training of the volunteers. The RSVP Supervisor is also responsible for recruitment of sites and developing and maintaining relationships with the volunteer stations along with maintaining accurate records and performing other duties and responsibilities pertinent to the successful operation of the RSV Programs.
II. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Overall coordination and administration of the Retired and Senior Volunteer and Senior Companion Programs.
  • Recruitment hiring orientation supervision and evaluation of RSVP staff.
  • Development and maintenance of materials for presentations recruitment community events.
  • Maintain effective and positive working relationships with all affiliated community service agencies and their designated liaisons.
  • Coordinate with the RSVP Coordinator in the recruitment and assignment of volunteers.
  • Establish relationships with the activities and personnel at the host setting and/or its staff; update all Memoranda of Understanding annually.
  • Assist in the distribution of program mailings and educate the community regarding the RSV programs.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Senior Programs to evaluate performance program operation and development etc.
  • Provide follow-up in obtaining volunteer hours (quarterly report) as well as provide updated information for volunteer records and RSVP station records.
  • Assist the Director of Senior Programs in developing new or improved operational modes when and where needed in order to best serve the program.
  • Develop annual program goals and objectives in collaboration with the Director of Senior Programs.
  • Ensure compliance and accountability for meeting both programmatic and fiscal goals and objectives as outlined in the respective federal state and local grants.
  • Monitor all program expenditures and budgetary issues.
  • Assist in all fundraising efforts
  • Responsible for compiling organizing and preparing written reports and other written documents as required.
  • Attend all meetings and training conferences deemed necessary by the Director of Senior Programs.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHSs mission and vision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Senior Programs.
III. Basic Competencies
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work or other human services field is required.
  • Gerontology knowledge/expertise coupled with administrative experience required.
  • Must meet the States Moral Character standard.

Knowledge Requirements:
  • Computer and software applications (Windows MS Office Internet applications etc.) necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  • Familiarity with the NASW and CCUSA Code of Ethics.

Skills and Abilities Needed:
  • Strong interest and experience in fundraising and community relations is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to relate to host setting personnel in order to provide maximum cooperation and good working conditions.
  • Knowledge and/or awareness of behavior in order to determine appropriate assignment of senior companion to clients and to evaluate when changes are needed etc.
  • Demonstrate leadership.
  • Motivate develop and direct people as they work; identify the best people for the job.
  • Manage time and multiple priorities; meet deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees other agencies and the public.
  • Exercise professional judgment in making decisions.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Attend and conduct agency training.
  • Maintain a Michigan drivers license and driving record that allows the operation of an agency or personal vehicle for agency business or to transport clients as needed.
