Overview:
A global company specializing in Energy Storage Systems and Electrical Equipment is seeking a Material Coordinator to support prototype builds within their R&D Lab in Herndon VA. This role is key to managing materials procurement activity and supplier coordination in support of New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working cross-functionally with both on-site and remote teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate material flow for prototype builds-ensure timely ordering delivery and availability of materials
* Issue RFQs and assist with purchase requisitions and orders (ERQs)
* Receive shipments log materials process goods receipts and manage inventory documentation
* Track inventory levels and follow up on deliveries to ensure on-time receipt
* Support supplier onboarding including gathering information and preparing NDAs
* Monitor and follow up on invoice approvals and payments
* Assist with material shipments from Herndon to suppliers or contract manufacturers
* Collaborate closely with remote Sourcing Manager and local Engineering team
* Use Excel and enterprise systems (e.g. SAP or similar) for tracking and reporting
Qualifications:
* 2 years of experience in procurement inventory/material coordination or purchasing
* Background in R&D NPI or PCBA/electro-mechanical assembly environments is a strong plus
* Proficient with Excel and experience using inventory or ERP systems (SAP preferred)
* Strong organizational communication and multitasking skills
* Detail-oriented with a systematic approach to follow-through
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
