Summary:
The Patient Access ED Registrar reflects the mission vision and values of Amplify RCM adheres to theorganizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevantpolicies procedures guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This positionreports to the Patient Access Manager.
In this role you will be responsible for patient registration verifying insurance collecting payments andensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient information. As the first point of contact forpatients and families you must demonstrate excellent communication customer service andmultitasking skills while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations.A key aspect of this role is ensuring compliance with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act(EMTALA) by following hospital policies and federal regulations related to patient intake triage andmedical screening requirements.
Duties andResponsibilities:
Greet patients upon arrival in the Emergency Department.
Accurately collect and enter patient demographic insurance and billing information.
Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for treatment without delaying themedical screening exam or emergency care in compliance with EMTALA.
Inform patients and families of hospital policies procedures and financial obligations only after amedical screening exam has been completed per EMTALA guidelines.
Collect co-pays deductibles and other payments as required after stabilization and compliancewith EMTALA regulations.
Work closely with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely processing.
Ensure no patient is denied care or transferred due to financial status or insurance coverage perEMTALA regulations.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and EMTALA regulations.
Assist in emergency situations by coordinating with medical staff and responding to urgentrequests.
Handle patient inquiries concerns and complaints in a professional and compassionate manner.Perform general clerical duties such as filing scanning and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology insurance verification and billing procedures.
Familiarity with EMTALA regulations and compliance requirements for emergency patientregistration.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and hospital information systems.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism and empathy.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Availability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays
Work Experience Education and Credentials:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associates or Bachelors degree preferred).
Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferably in an emergency department or hospitalregistration role.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a fast-paced emergency department setting with frequent interruptions.
Requires prolonged periods of sitting standing and walking.
May involve occasional lifting of materials.
Exposure to distressed patients families and high-stress medical situations.
