Job Description

Merton Risk and Resilience is an integrated service that focuses on mitigating risks and promoting resilience in children and young people (CYP) who are going missing from home experiencing child exploitation (CE) or using substances.   

The service aims to reduce harm by using a person-centred and strengths-based approach identifying their needs establishing co-production of goals and care plans and providing targeted and specialist evidence-based interventions.

You will be joining a supportive and dedicated team who are driven to build and develop the self-esteem confidence and resilience of young people reducing the potential harm and enabling young people to lead healthy happy and productive lives.

The role of Risk and Resilience Practitioner has responsibility for the direct delivery of the following elements of Catch22s Risk and Resilience service in the London Borough of Merton:

  • Return Home Interviews for children and young people who are missing from home.
  • Child Exploitation Services for young people who are being exploited sexually and/or criminally.
  • Specialist Substance Misuse Service.
  • Smoking and Vaping Service

Main Duties & Accountabilities

  • Lead on Smoking and Vaping Prevention Service - based on Stopping the Start  across all ages covered by the core service ages 11- 24.
  • Provided evidence-based approach to stop smoking services for children and young people aged 11-24 using nice guidelines.
  • Provide education and delivery service to support CYP who may be considering vaping or smoking which includes creating a network of Smoke Free Generation Ambassadors who can signpost and support young people to the appropriate information and services.
  • Undertake Return Home Interviews for missing C&YP when required.
  • Work with C&YP to identify and inform SMART care plans and pathways undertaking direct work such as delivering one to one intervention.
  • Planning and delivering interventions in accordance with commissioned contracts spec requirements and Catch22 key performance indicators (KPIs) policies and procedures ensuring the effective use of resources and the achievement of targets.

This post will involve travel across the borough and occasional evening and weekend working.

Qualifications :

  • 5 GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent.
  • Skills knowledge and experience relevant for the job.


Additional Information :

Salary: Up to 29000 per annum (depending on knowledge and experience)
Hours of work: Full time 37 hours per week*
Contract: Permanent

Location: Civic Centre Morden Library London Road Town Centre Morden SM4 5DX

*This role requires access to a car and a full driving licence.

*This is a community-based role however we are open to discussing flexibility for remote working days where service delivery allows.

A additional opportunity to support the Catch22 County Lines support and rescue service.  A out of hours service that facilitates the safe return home for children and young people who have been found in an exploitative situation inside and outside of London. This is an additional paid role which is an optional opportunity attached to the advertised role.
