How You Can Make an Impact The Laborer will be responsible for supporting construction activities by preparing job sites including setup and breakdown digging trenches and assisting crew members with the installation of underground utilities. This position requires a strong work ethic a focus on safety and a willingness to learn. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking hands-on experience in the construction industry. How You Will Contribute
Perform basic general laborer duties including but not limited to shoveling trenching grading cribbing lifting carrying heavy materials and equipment loading and unloading trucks demolition of asphalt and concrete utilizing a jackhammer assisting in setting up and pouring concrete flatwork asphalt paving and clearing debris and rubble.
Perform general job site preparation and cleanup
Perform traffic control duties such as traffic control set-up including setting up signage cones barricades and other delineation and performing flagging duties as needed
Set and remove shoring for excavations greater than 5-feet abide by all OSHA and company policies related to excavation
Operate and maintain company tools and vehicles
Assist crew members operators and other skilled labor when needed
Assist in the installation of underground utilities including water sewer storm drain electric gas communications etc.
Backfill and compact trenches and pits utilizing jumping-jacks and powder puffs
Perform data entry (time and materials) complete reports- must be able to navigate through our system using an iPhone iPad or computer.
Be willing and able to wear appropriate forms of respiratory protection equipment
Follow provided routes/maps and travel to and from job sites in a company vehicle
Be willing to travel out of town during the week and/or on weekends to perform work when needed
Perform other job-related duties as requested by your supervisor
What You Bring to the Table
Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
Must be safety oriented and make safety the number one priority
Excellent communication skills
Exhibit excellent customer service skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to read write and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to learn quickly and understand various processes regarding MGEs policies procedures and software programs
Ability to use a computer/smart phone/tablet
Your Prior Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
: 1-3 years of general experience as a laborer in the construction industry or completion of relevant training and/or trade school program can substitute work experience.
Required: Valid Class C Drivers License clean driving record.
Desired: Class A Drivers License; tankers endorsement is a plus.
Our Competitive Package Pay: $35.00 to $40.00 per hour This pay range is our competitive compensation at the time of this job posting. Your pay will be determined based on experience education skills and applicable knowledge.
