DEFINITION OF POSITION: To assist in the development and maintenance of a successful athletic program
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Assistant Principal for Athletics and Activities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Evidence of successful competitive playing and/or coaching experience
- Must be 21 years old per WIAA regulations
- Current First Aid/CPR card
- Ability to obtain a Pullman School District Type II drivers license upon hire
- Knowledge of WIAA weight management standards for wrestling
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school head coaching experience
- College/University training or experience in the activity
- Coaching experience at the middle school level or equivalent
ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:
- Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills necessary to compete teach proper attitudes to play the sport competitively and teach proper attitudes regarding winning gracefully and losing with dignity
- Practice preparation planning and supervision
- Match/Meet preparation and set up
- Schedule and coordinate end of the season awards banquet
- Positive presentation of the program to the Pullman High School community
- Work within guidelines of WIAA Greater Spokane League and the Pullman School District
- Complete all WIAA and League Rules Clinics and meetings
- Maintain accurate and current rosters and report to them the athletic office and WIAA Wrestling Weight Management System
- Monitor the safety and conduct of all athletes at all times
- Provide leadership in developmental programs
- Verify and ensure the eligibility of all students who participate in the assigned program
- Report game match or meet results as assigned; keep student body and parents informed
- Submit transportation requests to the transportation department for travel to and from games and/or practices
- Coordinate player development and skill level
- Cooperate with other school programs
- Maintain equipment/uniform inventory along with ordering and surplus of uniforms and equipment
- Follow ASB law when ordering equipment fundraising and using the sports ASB account
- Help prepare for matches/meets and practices along with taking care of the equipment after practices and matches/meets
- Arrange all non-league meets invitationals or matches as assigned; provide input throughout the league with regards to the development of league schedules
- Develop support for the program from players students parents and community
- Adjust the system to player personnel available
- Willingness to work with middle school and all youth programs
- Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff parents community members other agencies etc.)
- Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner with administration other coaches parents and students
- Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
- Maintain confidentiality
- Communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Evaluate and supervise all assistant coaches
- Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance actions decisions and overall performance
- Work with minimal supervision and be flexible
TERMS OF CONTRACT:
- Salary: Stipend Position: $6008-$7748 per full sports seasonThe filling of this position is dependent upon the number of participants.
