About the Position:

We are seeking motivated candidates for the position of Customer Representative Associate II Motor Vehicle in the Operating Authority Unit located within the Division of Motor Carrier Services in Augusta Maine.

As a Customer Representative Associate II you will assist in administering the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCRA) Program processing new and renewal filings managing fee collection reviewing insurance compliance for for-hire passenger carriers and performing suspensions or restorations based on state regulations. Youll play a critical role in upholding public safety and ensuring compliance with Maines motor carrier laws.

In this role you will:

  • Receive review and verify Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) filings for accuracy documentation and payment.
  • Process credit card payments balance cash transactions and perform fee reconciliation using the BMV Point of Sale system.
  • Suspend or reinstate carriers for non-compliance with insurance and registration requirements.
  • Explain federal and state motor carrier laws and policies to insurance providers carriers and members of the public.
  • Track and maintain insurance filings for taxis buses limousines ambulances student transportation vehicles and others.
  • Handle FTA (Failure to Appear) and FTP (Failure to Pay) suspensions and restorations.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders via phone email and in-person contact to resolve customer service needs.

Preferences will be given to candidates who have:

  • Experience with Maine motor vehicle laws and commercial registration processes.
  • Familiarity with insurance regulations for for-hire carriers.
  • Previous work in a compliance-focused administrative environment.
  • Ability to use multiple databases and applications to track filings and manage caseloads.
  • A proven ability to work in a collaborative team-focused environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Training education or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates:

  1. Competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of quality customer service to perform complex work in assisting the public with applications fees examinations or social services that have an eligibility or compliance component; and
  2. The ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow information to process and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.

3. The successful candidate must pass a National Criminal Background check including fingerprinting.
