The Department of Institutional Research and Assessment is seeking applicants for an Associate Director of Institutional Research. This is a fulltime benefitted position located in the Feltner Building in downtown Winchester VA.
The overall responsibility of the Associate Director reporting to the Director Institutional Research and Assessment is to provide dynamic and effective leadership to manage university-wide institutional research efforts evaluation and program review functions to support Shenandoahs mission strategic objectives compliance and positioning as a premier institution. The Associate Director serves as the primary compliance officer for SCHEV and IPEDS external reporting and coordinates the building of an appropriate library of operational and institutional policies for managing institutional research and assessment resources while meeting compliance requirements.
The Associate Director also provides leadership and strategic planning support for institutional research including matriculation student success assessment data validation grants and other assigned areas. Works as a liaison with all University departments and divisions providing assistance to meet student needs.
Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitoring and measuring the Universitys progress within the Strategic Plan and tracking the Universitys status against the external measurements; Providing research support to internal and external stakeholders for assessing program effectiveness which includes providing reports on program course and general education assessment; Managing an on-going calendar of institutional research activities and compliance milestones and deadlines on research projects; Maintaining a working knowledge of the colleges administrative software systems such as Ellucian word processing spreadsheet database statistics graphic and survey software; Developing and overseeing tracking systems to capture student enrollment and persistence data.
Scope of influence requires contact with government authorities as well as research affinity groups to define metrics select methodologies and construct accompanying college policies and procedures in support of regulatory efforts. Collaborates closely with other university offices to design and implement studies or reporting systems. Activities include managing data projects needed to be in compliance with SCHEV IPEDS and SACSCOC reporting data collection and file editing activities complex data analysis and forecasting conducting quantitative surveys drafting reports on findings and working with facultyand administrators to report results.
