Job Description Summary

The Site EHS Specialist will be an on-site leader for Environmental Health and Safety policy programs and culture at the fixed warehouse facility in Amarillo TX. The role significantly influences approaches projects and programs within the functional area affecting quality efficiency and team effectiveness. It involves substantial input into setting priorities and is guided by professional practices and policies. The position offers significant autonomy and demands high operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Candidate possesses a comprehensive knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Occupational Health and Safety and/or Industrial Hygiene. Leverages prior experience and technical expertise to implement policies and strategies effectively.
  • Has an understanding of key business drivers and utilizes this knowledge to achieve individual and team objectives. Ensures seamless integration of the teams work with other departments contributing to overall organizational goals that align with the GE Vernova Way.
  • Applies analytical skills and judgment to propose innovative solutions within established guidelines with oversight. Uses previous experience and training to tackle straightforward tasks and solve problems. Collaborates with various internal resources beyond the immediate team to make informed decisions.
  • Serve as an individual and team contributor with strong interpersonal with strong presentation skills.
  • Provides formal and informal guidance mentorship and Day 1 safety induction to new team members and visitors to the plant.
  • Conducts regular safety audits Gemba walks and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance while consistently applying lean methodologies in their processes
  • Monitors leading indicators of potential safety risks such as concern reports and proactively implements preventive controls as necessary.
  • Works as One Team with the GE Vernova EHS organization and plant leadership team to align the Amarillo TX facility to company policy and best in standard.
  • Accountable for driving a safety-first culture with GE Vernova employees and third-party contractors while also understanding and supporting business metrics regarding quality on time delivery and cost control.
  • Collaborates with the Facilities Manager to ensure all third-party vendors performing work on site (e.g. maintenance work) adhere to GE Vernova EHS standards
  • Leads incident investigations root cause identification and corrective action implementation to better server internal and external customers.
  • SQDC in everything we do

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution plus 5 years experience in EHS Occupational Health and Safety Industrial Hygiene or related field.
  • OR a high school diploma/GED plus 8 years in EHS Occupational Health and Safety Industrial Hygiene or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of advanced experience in Environmental Health & Safety and Regional Operations.

Desired Characteristics

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex problems.
  • Competence in documenting planning marketing and executing EHS programs.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Solid presentation skills
