Duration: 12 months
Max Pay Rate: INC: $124.78/hr T4: $103.95/hr
Seeking a Project Engineer Specialist to work with cross-functional teams to ensure that project designs for transmission systems are safe effective and meet technical requirements. The role involves oversight of multi-discipline engineering project coordination and stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop safe engineering solutions using sound judgment analysis and interpretation of engineering specifications.
Support project delivery in alignment with safety cost quality and schedule goals.
Propose design changes track project progress and coordinate work schedules.
Resolve complex design and field engineering challenges through independent studies and technical leadership.
Contribute to the development of technical standards and engineering best practices.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders defining engineering scopes and monitoring progress.
Make technical decisions and recommendations regarding design bases criteria and resource planning.
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil Electrical or Mechanical).
Registered (or eligible for immediate registration) as a Professional Engineer (.) or Professional Geoscientist (.) in British Columbia or another Canadian jurisdiction.
Permit to Practice with Engineers & Geoscientists BC (EGBC) is required (can be via sole practitioner or firm).
May be required to use a digital seal technology (e.g. Notarius).
Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in transmission line and/or substation design.
Minimum 4 years of experience leading and coordinating multi-discipline design teams.
Experience through all project phases conceptual design to commissioning.
Strong understanding of the transmission system system operations and project impacts.
Familiarity with design substations protection and control systems and telecom systems is an asset.
Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and influence multiple stakeholders.
Proficient in CAD systems and drawing standards.
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) and industry-standard engineering software.
Working knowledge of project management principles including estimating scheduling and cost control.
Experience managing Owners Engineer reviews is an asset.
Familiarity with project delivery processes engineering design practices and standards is beneficial.
Site experience on large construction projects (e.g. hydroelectric stations substations or transmission lines) is a strong asset.
Valid Class 5 drivers license.
Must have strong transmission experience.
Ability to work on hybrid schedule (2 days per week onsite in Edmonds BC).
Previous experience as a Project Manager.
Prior experience with electric utilities.
Experience in protection & control telecom and/or transmission line projects.
