Job Description

Our client a global leader in manufacturing is seeking a Plant Engineer to join its team in DuPage County IL. Reporting to the Plant Manager this role is responsible for leading plant maintenance operations with a focus on reliability safety and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will drive performance through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Maintenance Excellence and the Sonoco Performance System (SPS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead plant safety programs and ensure compliance with all federal state and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Implement and sustain a reliability-centered maintenance strategy to improve machine uptime OEE and reduce operational costs.
  • Provide leadership to the maintenance team ensuring high standards of equipment performance and plant condition.
  • Identify and support technical training and development for maintenance staff.
  • Manage capital projects participate in budgeting and control departmental spending.
  • Apply root cause analysis to critical equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to drive operational improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Maintenance Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading a maintenance department in a manufacturing setting or 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and ability to implement preventive measures.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis tools (FMEA 5 Whys etc.) and developing countermeasures.
  • Knowledge of mechanical electrical hydraulic and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Background in TPM or reliability engineering preferred.
  • Strong leadership communication and project management skills.
