Job Summary
Working with the Access Information and Building Services team the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for supervising the librarys Shipping & Receiving operation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to collection processing tracking and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail packages and equipment for the J. Willard Marriott Library. Shipping & Receiving handles up to 20000 packages annually. Working with supply chain vendors the supervisor pursues the most cost effective and efficient shipping solutions for a wide range of materials to support all library programs. The supervisor is responsible for updating training materials and documentation as processes and vendor interfaces change. This position is required to work on campus full-time. Telecommuting will only be authorized for occasional/exceptional circumstances. Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Department Supervision. Plans organizes manages and reviews the work within the department. Establishes department goals and develop implement and review policies and procedures. Tracks accumulates and reports relevant Shipping and Receiving statistics to the library. Directs and organizes the department to ensure that all items are prepared shipped and received in a timely manner. Advises library staff and administration on cost and methods of handling letters books packages and pallet shipments. Records all incoming packages that have tracking information. Maintain departmental supplies and equipment. Reviews information entered in SendPro Enterprise software for accuracy and billing verification. Schedules and coordinates with delivery drivers. Manages the loading dock and vendor check-in process. Develops workflows for shipping and communicates to the organization about changes. Continually updates workflow documentation and training materials. Responds to building emergencies as needed. Assists library operations and protection services in emergency response and evacuation procedures. Assists with large moves and projects as needed. Coordinates large scale recycling projects with campus and heavy transportation. Managing the librarys fleet of vehicles by coordinating vehicle service car wash and fueling.
Minimum Qualifications
Six years related experience including one year supervisory experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; basic knowledge of library science techniques and principles in order to provide oversight to assigned area required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
