Staff Accountant-Accounts Receivable
Full-Time $22-$26.44/hour w/Full Health Program Benefits
The Salvation Army Syracuse Area Services
Our Finance Department is in growth mode and we need to add experienced Staff Accountants to our team who are willing to concentrate on the Accounts Receivable aspects of accounting principles for the department. The primary purpose is to help manage the receipt and accounting of funds being paid to the organization. They will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the invoices and that proper accounting procedures were followed to account for the receipt of payments. Individual must maintain accurate account balances by verifying allocating and posting transactions into the proper journals and proper documents are in place to back-up any transaction. This position is expected to work with a problem-solving oriented team and develop a professional relationship within the finance department.

Responsibilities
Process all receipts through accounts receivable system assuring compliance with agency standards. Follow through on variances in A/R payments received as compared to billed. Reconcile and contact Funder and/or Finance staff to re-invoice timely and accurately.
Process daily deposits electronically using the Cash Management System.
Complete periodic credit card processing as required (Weekly/monthly).
Perform bank reconciliation.
Reconcile donation records to Finance records.
Assist with the preparation of the external audit documentation and interact directly with external auditors.
Reconcile balance sheet account balances for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and complying with related policies practices and regulations.
Remain abreast of changes in grant requirements and reporting structure.
Assist with the preparation of the agency budget and financial statements.
Demonstrate cultural competence as well as integrate understanding into daily responsibilities and participate in meeting the objectives of The Salvation Army Syracuse Area Services Strategic Plan
Qualifications
Associates Degree with three to five years of experience in accounting related field or equivalent work experience. Bachelors preferred.
Minimum supervision required; work follows standard accounting procedures & principles (GAP).
PC experience with spreadsheet software required (i.e. Excel).
Experience with computerized accounting system.
