Job Description

  • Employment Type: Part-Time (3 days/week) Fixed Term until May 2027
  • Remuneration: $155K - $178K 17% super depending on experience (Level C)
  • Location: UNSW Kensington Campus (hybrid)

About the role:

A Senior Research Fellow (Level C) is expected to make independent and original contributions to the research efforts of their discipline and contribute meaningfully to the organisational unit or inter-disciplinary area in which they are based. An academic at this level is expected to play a major role in research including the exercise of some leadership in research and have advanced capability in scientific and technical writing. This role in particular was created to support the execution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research grant funding.

This is new position funded until May 2027. We are looking for someone who can work 3 days a week we are flexible on the days. The position is hybrid (cannot be fully remote).

Who You Are:

We are looking for someone who is aligned with UNSWs vision and values and who holds the following:

  • A PhD in a biomedical health or related discipline supported by extensive professional experience across academic research scientific writing grant development and research operations
  • Demonstrated commitment to proactively maintain up-to-date discipline knowledge including advances in research communication ethics and culturally safe engagement particularly in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health contexts
  • Proven research track record with high-quality outputs including peer-reviewed publications successful competitive and philanthropic grant applications and contributions to translational and community-impact research
  • Capacity for research leadership including mentoring of junior researchers supervising technical staff managing research infrastructure and contributing to the design and implementation of complex research initiatives
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively across disciplines and institutions including clinical Indigenous health philanthropic and biomedical sectors
  • Advanced capability in manuscript preparation competitive grant submissions and the development of culturally sensitive accessible lay summaries for a range of audiences
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills evidenced through experience in coordinating grant programs managing scientific facilities leading research communications and supporting ethical research governance
