Summary of Job Duties:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Psychiatric Research Institute Center for Addiction Services and Treatment (CAST) Clinic is a specifically trained member of the psychiatry team. The LPN supports the ongoing delivery of care as identified by the multi-disciplinary Patient Management Team. The LPN works under the direct supervision of the Program Manager and indirectly under the direction of the RN.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program

  • Valid LPN License;

  • Minimum of 1 year clinical nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Psychiatric Nursing preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills ability to accept and follow written and verbal instructions ability to communicate following Guest Care guidelines

  • CPR certification (BCLS) completed during the probationary period


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and registered nurses with providing basic direct patient assessment.

  • Performs intake exams and health screenings monitors vital signs collects various swabs and specimens and administers diagnostic tests.

  • Develop communicate and implement patient treatment plans by evaluating patient well-being reporting any needs to medical staff and explaining treatments and procedures.

  • Provides a high standard of care and customer service to patients and families.

  • Ensures comfort and well-being of patients by performing care activities such as feeding patients changing dressings and bandages of wounds and transporting patients from wheelchairs beds and gurneys.

  • Maintains organized medical records and fulfills records requests.

  • Participate in ad hoc research projects to improve performance management and patient care.

  • Performs other duties as requested.
